Dr. Sergey Chistiy
Director, Mobility and Universal Design
Dr. Sergey Chistiy is a prominent international expert in the field of universal design and creation of barrier-free environment for disabled and other low-mobility citizens. He is a Member of the "Barrier - free city for all" of the international association "Eurocity" study group of the European Union from the Russian Federation and a Vice-President of the Charitable Foundation "City without Barriers".
From 1991 to 2013 he worked in various positions in the Departments of Health and Social Protection of Moscow city Government. He was directly engaged in creation of accessible environment for persons with disabilities in the Western District of Moscow with 1.2 mln. citizens.
Dr. Chistiy is an author adaptation projects for public buildings and territories in Moscow, manuals, books, educational programs and special guidelines on creating an accessible environment. He implemented more than 30 projects in the field of adaptation of urban infrastructure for persons with disabilities including 18 public.
Winner of the Golden Award of the Best Practices Contest of the World in the Field of Universal Design and Creation of Barrier-Free Environment for Disabled and Other Low-Mobility Citizens 2016, which is held by the International Association of Universal Design (IAUD Awards) under the auspices of UNESCO in the nomination "Architecture and URBAN."
He graduated from Moscow State University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the same university.
